Building the right team is as essential to the creative output of an agency as a big idea. Over the last 10 years, I’ve had the chance to do just that, most recently at Tribal DDB. After two years there as Associate Creative Director, I was promoted to Design Director and given the opportunity to create a whole new design practice at DDB. The goal was to integrate Tribal’s digital chops with the creative design and content creation required to execute integrated campaigns for DDB. 

I built a team with a diverse skillset—spanning technology, graphic design,  prototyping, branding and content creation—to create elegant solutions to briefs for both agencies.

Adidas Runmore

For some, daylight savings means an extra hour of sleep. For runners, it is an opportunity to run more.

For the design team, this project was an opportunity to create an unforgettable branded experience around a clever logo that combined Adidas brand elements with the creative idea.

Maker Studio

The heart of the design team was our content studio. We had a small photography studio, audio/video editing capabilities and motion graphics workstations on site.

Our team produced hundreds of pieces of social content as well as creative prototypes, pitch materials and anything else the team could think up.

Digital Design

Here is an overview of some of the user experience projects we brought to life when I oversaw the team.

From campaign pages to full website redesigns, these projects all employed research, user testing and a contemporary digital design process to inform designs that not only look polished, but function seamlessly. 

McDonalds Boombox

We turned a McDonald’s drink tray into a handy cardboard speaker.

The team came up with the branding and graphic language as well as created a behind the scenes "making of" video and complementary social content.

The Anti–Vaxxer Vaccine 

We created a brand for the first ever Anti-Vaxxer Vaccine.

The Anti-Vaxxer Vaccine is the first digital vaccine designed to fight the spread of anti-vaxxerism online. Once your browser is inoculated, it will be able to detect and remove any content containing misinformation related to vaccines. So that when it comes to your family’s health, you can always make an informed decision.

VW Tools

The design and UX teams worked hand in hand to build many tools and branded experiences for Volkswagen Canada.

To ensure creative consistency throughout a sprint process, visual designers from my team would be dedicated to projects from initial sketching all the way through user testing and asset library creation.
